Adjacent to the Walker, Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is well worth exploring; see Claes Oldenburg’s iconic Spoon and Cherry Bridge. The Minneapolis Institute of Arts holds art from all over the world, from prehistory to today. There are many good small independent downtown Minneapolis galleries. The Tony Award-winning Guthrie Theatre is renowned for its program of contemporary and classic drama. The Orpheum Theatre hosts touring companies and acts performing big musicals and concerts. Classical music lovers are well served by the Minnesota Opera and Minnesota Orchestra. |

Nightlife/BarsDowntown Minneapolis has rich nightlife and bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. Block E is a famous entertainment district where you will find the Hard Rock Café, which holds memorabilia from one of the Twin Cities’ most famous sons, Prince. |

Gay Nineties is the city’s most Bohemian night club, with three floors of musical mayhem and drag queens for a gay and mixed clientele. The Dakota Jazz Cub and Restaurant is rather more sedate and sophisticated, attracting the biggest names in jazz. The Acme Comedy Club plays host to top and up-and-coming comics. The Warehouse District is another good area for shopping by day, and drinking and dining in the evening. |
